CHISEL Retreat
While I was sitting around the Computational Geometry Lab (C505, University of Lethbridge), I got this email telling me that there would be a CHISEL group retreat at the Victoria Yacht club a couple days after my arrival. As you might imagine, my office-mates were less than thrilled that they weren't me that day =D. As it turns out, the retreat was fantastic. Basically, everyone gave a short presentation on what they were working on, with questions from the floor afterwards. There was also a couple meals and some alchohol involved. Being from a smaller university, I've really never had access to more than a couple "like" minds at any given time. The exchange of ideas was...fantastic. Feedback was relavant and exploratory; you could almost see the conversations opening up new mental avenues in the minds CHISEL. I've never seen anything like it. I think I could really get used to this, though. It was also, of course, a really good opportunity to meet the people in my group. Good times :) posted by Kim Hansen on May 20 at 3:24 PM MST |
