Tracy Camp - Distributed Mentor Program (DMP)
Colorado School of Mines

Tracy Camp is a Professor of computer science at the Colorado School of Mines. She is the founder and Director of the Toilers (http://toilers.mines.edu), an active ad hoc networks research group currently consisting of five faculty and 18 students. Dr. Camp has received 13 grants from NSF, including a CAREER award in 1997. Her funding has produced 12 software packages which have been requested from more than 950 researchers in 56 countries (as of June 2007).

Dr. Camp has published more than 60 refereed articles; as of June 2007, her articles have been cited over 1800 times (per Google Scholar). Dr. Camp recently returned from New Zealand, where she was a Fulbright Scholar. She is currently a member of the Ad Hoc Networks Journal editorial board, the Pervasive and Mobile Computing editorial board, and the elected Treasurer of ACM's Special Interest Group on Mobile Computing (SIGMOBILE).

Dr. Camp is also known for her efforts for the women in computing community. She served as the co-chair of ACM's Committee on Women in Computing from 1998-2002, and she continues as the ACM-W liaison to the National Center for Women in Information Technology and as the co-Leader of the ACM-W Ambassador Program. She is also a member of the Computing Research Association's Committee on the Status of Women in Computing Research (CRA-W) where she co-chairs CRA-W's Distributed Mentor Program.

Dr. Camp was recently named an ACM Distinguished Scientist; only 24 people (11 in industry and 13 in academics) were awarded this distinction in 2006. She was also recently awarded IEEE Senior Member status (July 2006) and selected (via invitation) to be an ACM Distinguished Lecturer (August 2006).
