The 2015 Workshop on Supporting Diversity in Systems Research at SOSP ’15
The Workshop on Supporting Diversity in Systems Research (Diversity 2015) is a forum to support traditionally underrepresented students in systems research. It provides minority and female students at the graduate or advanced undergraduate level with valuable opportunities for mentorship and networking. However, the workshop is open to everyone. We encourage all students within the systems research community to attend.
This year, Diversity’15 will include a Student Poster Competition and a PhD Research Work-In-Progress Symposium. All members of the systems community are invited to apply. Application to either participation format involves a 2-page abstract of the poster/research presentation.
The Student Poster Competition is open to all students, undergraduate and graduate, involved in systems research. Priority will be given to undergraduate researchers for a portion of the research posters.
The PhD Research WIP Symposium is open to PhD students currently enrolled in a PhD program pursuing research in the systems area. Students selected to participate in the Symposium will be asked to give a short presentation of their current work followed by a brief Q&A discussion. Applicants to the PhD Research Symposium should indicate on their applications if they wish to be considered for the Poster Competition as well.
Researchers from colleges that historically serve women, Hispanic students, Native Americans, or African Americans, are particularly encouraged to apply.
Participants in the Diversity workshop will be given special consideration for the SOSP travel grants (application instructions TBA).
