Computing Research Association
Computing Community Consortium
The Computing Research Association (CRA) seeks a highly motivated individual to serve as a Senior Program Associate for Engagement, working for the Computing Community Consortium (CCC). The Senior Program Associate for Engagement will work closely with the CCC Director, Staff, and Council to ensure that CCC’s mission and objectives are achieved in a timely and high-quality fashion.
The senior program associate must know the computing research community well in order to work closely with CCC council members, researchers, and government employees to make sure accurate scientific information is portrayed and described in all activities of the CCC. This is critical as the senior program associate will rely on these individuals for comments on various papers, reports, and blogs to further enrich the awareness of CRA and CCC, its committees, its mission, and its services. The senior program associate will be directly responsible for managing some of the CCC Task Forces.
The position receives direct supervision from the Director. An ability to execute on assigned tasks of varying complexity in a timely, on-deadline manner, often with significant autonomy, is necessary. Creativity, organization, strong interpersonal and communication skills, time management, attention to detail, technical proficiency, and sound judgment are vital. The Senior Program Associate must be able to fill in for other CCC staff, as needed, and work as part of a team.
The Senior Program Associate for Engagement is responsible for interacting with the community and supporting Council members to enable more bidirectional engagement with the community, primarily through visits with the broader community and ensuring participation at regular CCC activities. In addition, responsibilities include the management of materials on arXiv and social media activity, including the CCC podcast Catalyzing Computing. This requires a general understanding of computing research and a deep understanding of the various technical “hot topics” in computing research that make up the CCC task forces.
A master’s degree in a science or technology field is preferred, but not required. Background/experience in computing and engineering is not necessary, but willingness to broaden one’s awareness of the field is a must.
CRA seeks to fill this position immediately.
