Multiple Tenure-Track Positions in Computer Science

Stony Brook University’s Department of Computer Science invites applicants for multiple tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate and Full Professors levels for fall 2018. Exceptionally qualified junior and senior candidates in all areas of Computer Science are invited to apply. Candidates in the following areas are particularly encouraged: 1) computer systems, including operating systems, architecture and networking; 2) cybersecurity; 3) artificial intelligence and machine learning, 4) computational science, data science and big data problems/applications.

Applicants should hold a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related discipline and must demonstrate superior research potential. The Department currently has over 50 faculty members and is expected to recruit additional members in the next several years. In 2015 the department moved to a new state-of-the-art 70,000 sq ft building. In 2017, the campus was awarded significant grants from SUNY to recruit world-class faculty in high economic opportunity areas of state and national significance – artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.  The department benefits from its collaborations with the Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT) and the Institute of Advanced Computational Science (IACS). The department has access to a significant laboratory space in CEWIT.  The department also offers undergraduate and graduate programs in the SUNY Korea campus in Songdo, S. Korea.

Home to many highly ranked graduate research programs, Stony Brook University is located 50 miles from New York City on Long Island’s scenic North Shore. Stony Brook University is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU) and co-manager of nearby Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL), a Department of Energy multidisciplinary research laboratory.
