Department of Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Chicago invites applications for the position of full-time Lecturer. This is a two-year position with the possibility of renewal. This position includes teaching two courses per quarter in the fall, winter and spring quarters, and ongoing professional development. The position will be part of the Service Employees International Union as a Lecturer 3. The relationship between the lecturers and the university is governed in part through a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Responsibilities include teaching six courses per year and ongoing professional development.

Candidates must be qualified to teach at least one of algorithms, discrete mathematics, or introduction to programming. Preference will be given to candidates who are qualified to teach upper-level undergraduate courses in one or more of the following areas: data science, machine learning, systems, or theory.

Completion of a Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is required prior to the start of appointment is required; a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field is preferred, and prior college teaching experience is preferred.
