CRA Professional Development Pre-Symposium for Teaching-Track Faculty
The CRA Professional Development Pre-Symposium for Teaching-Track Faculty is an annual event held in conjunction with the SIGCSE Technical Symposium. Designed for teaching-track faculty in PhD-granting computing departments, this full-day, in-person workshop offers tailored professional development, hands-on learning, and networking for early to mid-career educators and those considering a teaching-track career path.
Participants can expect:
- Targeted Professional Development: Sessions focus on career advancement within teaching-track roles, covering key skills such as departmental service, scholarship, and leadership.
- Expert Panels & Skill-Building Workshops: Led by experienced faculty, these sessions provide hands-on learning opportunities and practical insights for teaching-track faculty.
- Unconference Peer Mentoring: Attendees self-organize around topics of interest, fostering meaningful connections and collaborative discussions on challenges unique to teaching-track roles.
Each year, participants leave with actionable insights, new strategies for navigating teaching-track roles, and valuable professional connections. The event is organized by the CRA Education Committee, with support from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), and is limited to 70 participants to maintain an interactive, personalized experience.
