Department of Commerce’s New National AI Advisory Committee Members Announced
Recently, the Department of Commerce announced the appointment of 27 experts to the new National AI Advisory Committee (NAIAC). Among them were several individuals affiliated with CRA:
- David Danks, CCC Council Member
- Ayanna Howard, CRA and CRA-WP Board Member and CCC Engagement
- Ramayya Krishnan, Co-lead of CCC AI/OR Workshop Series
- Ashley Llorens, Co-lead of CCC Assured Autonomy Series
Created in response to the National AI Initiative Act of 2020, the committee will provide recommendations to the President and the National AI Initiative Office on various topics pertaining to AI such as international competitiveness, scientific developments, research and workforce issues. Committee members will serve three-year terms and may serve two consecutive terms at the discretion of the secretary.

The committee plans its first meeting on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, which will be open to the public via webcast. The National Institute of Standards and Technology will provide administrative support to the committee.
