Computing Research Association – Industry (CRA-I) committee held a 1.5 day in-person workshop on October 17-18, 2024 in Washington, DC on Sharing Healthcare Data. The workshop went into crucial aspects of data ownership, access, and control in the domain of healthcare, with dedicated sessions exploring topics such as “Barriers to Sharing Healthcare Data,” “InterAI:Connecting all health models/AI,” “Ethics in Health Data Sharing,” and “Navigating Regulatory Landscapes: AI Compliances in Health Data Sharing.”
The workshop was honored to feature Deborah Estrin from Cornell Tech and Tom Kalil from Renaissance Philanthropy as keynote speakers. The full agenda is available here. This workshop is spun off of the very successful CRA-I Sharing Healthcare Data Roundtable in December 2023.

| Corning Tom Kalil is the CEO of Renaissance Philanthropy. Tom served in the White House for two presidents (Obama and Clinton) and in collaboration with his team worked with the Senate to give every federal agency the authority to support incentive prizes for up to $50 million. Tom also served as the Chief Innovation Officer at Schmidt Futures, a philanthropic initiative of Eric and Wendy Schmidt. At Schmidt Futures, Tom supported the launch of Convergent Research, an organization that incubates and launches Focused Research Organizations, timebound non-profit organizations designed to accelerate scientific progress. Tom Kalil serves as Chair of Convergent Research. Tom also serves as a Member of the Board of Future House, a non profit focused on building AI-powered assistants for the laboratory. |
