NEC Laboratories America (http://www.nec-labs.com/) conducts research in support of NEC’s US and global business. Our lab has a broad research program that covers many areas and maintains a balance of fundamental and applied research.

The Autonomic Management group (http://www.nec-labs.com/research-departments/autonomic-management/) performs research on all aspects of large-scale complex systems. We have ongoing projects in distributed systems and cloud infrastructure, software-defined networking, computer security, and big data platform/analytics. Our group brings together experts in operating systems, networking, distributed systems, security, modeling, statistics, and data mining. We build technologies to solve real world problems and grow NEC’s business. Our research leads to both award-winning NEC products/solutions and numerous publications in top conferences.

Our group is looking for multiple researchers in the areas of computer networking, distributed systems, security and big data. The ideal candidates must have expertise in the design, implementation, and deployment of large scale distributed systems, networks and security platforms. He/she must hold a PhD in Computer Science or Engineering and have a strong publication or systems building record in at least one of the following areas:

– Large-scale Log Management Systems
– Big Data processing platforms
– Real-time Stream Processing
– Performance, scalability, and reliability analysis

– Data center and cloud computing
– Network analytics and management
– Network monitoring and measurement
– Software-defined networking

– System and network security
– Scalable security middleware, big-data system, big-graph analytics, DB system, query optimization
– APT defense, intrusion detection, malware/vulnerability analysis, and attack forensics
– System monitoring, kernel instrumentation and application auditing

NEC Labs is located in Princeton, NJ, home of Princeton University and one of America’s most beautiful and idyllic towns. The area offers many exciting cultural, entertainment and outdoor activities.
