The Department of Computer Science at Georgia State University invites applications for four tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level to begin in August 2016. Earned Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related discipline is required for this position. Prospective applicant will demonstrate excellence in research, a commitment to undergraduate/graduate computer science education, and a strong potential for securing external funding. All areas of Computer Science will be considered with preference given to candidates with expertise in the areas of Big Data (including data visualization, cloud computing, networking, and database systems), Cybersecurity (gaming, privacy, software and mobile security, and malware analysis), Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, and Data Mining/Machine Learning.

Georgia State University, located in the heart of downtown Atlanta, is a major research university with an enrollment of more than 32,000 students. The university is currently in the middle of a record $1 billion campus expansion. The Computer Science department’s Ph.D. program is nationally competitive and ranked among the best in the Southeast, according to National Research Council data. The program also has a high rank in several categories at the PhDs.org website. The department’s faculty attracts substantial funding from many federal agencies, including six NSF CAREER Awards.
