CRA-W is proud to be a sponsor of the annual MinneWic Conference being held this year at the University of Minnesota via the Distinguished Lecture Series Program.
This regional meeting will bring together students, faculty, and technology leaders from across Minnesota and neighboring states to discuss the role of women in today’s computing and technology fields, share experiences and strategies for success, and explore issues common to women working in these fields. This celebration is part of a nationwide effort to address the alarming decline of women choosing computer science professions.
What will happen at MinneWIC?
MinneWIC will start late Friday afternoon February 17 and continue until early afternoon on Saturday February 18. Details will be listed in the Program once they are finalized.
Who should attend MinneWIC?
You should attend if you are interested in learning about the challenges and rewards of computing careers or in advancing technology through broader representation of women. We encourage undergraduate, and graduate students with interests in computing and information technology to attend and also to submit work in the appropriate categories (see Call for Participation). We invite faculty and technology leaders to come meet and mentor the next generation of computing professionals. High school students interested in computing are also welcome to attend.

MinneWIC 2017 invites contributions in the following categories:
- Posters (Open to students)
- Lightning talks (Open to all attendees)
- Birds-of-Feather (BOF) sessions (Open to all attendees)
- Faculty and professional women
- Information table (Open to corporations and academic institutions)
The deadline for poster and lightning talk submissions is Monday January 23. Notification of acceptance will be made by Friday January 27. Submissions for BOF sessions and info tables will be accepted on a rolling basis until the program is full. Please submit early to guarantee a spot in the program.

The celebration will take place on the Minneapolis campus of the University of Minnesota in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Building, 200 Union St SE, Minneapolis, MN 55455 in room 3-180.
Posters, dinner, and the first invited talk on Friday will be at the McNamara Alumni Center.
Who can attend MinneWIC?
Anyone who is interested in learning about the challenges and rewards of computing careers or in advancing technology through broader representation of women.
We welcome undergraduate and graduate students with interests in computing and information technology, high school students interested in computing, high-school teachers, faculty, and professional women.
Do I need to register?
Yes, every attendee has to register. The non-refundable registration fee of $TBA will cover all meals and materials. The registration is heavily subsidized by our sponsors. Please visit the registration page to register.
Who can apply for scholarships?
Generous scholarships provided by our sponsors will cover hotel costs in a shared double room for Friday night for anyone registered for the conference who needs a hotel accommodation. The deadline to apply for scholarships is TBA, Visit the registration page to apply. Attendees who need travel reimbursement or have a particular financial hardship and cannot cover the registration can also apply for a scholarship.
