House STEM Education Caucus Briefing on Building a STEM Education Pipeline for Industry Needs
Earlier this week, the House STEM Education Caucus sponsored a briefing for Congressional staff titled, “Building a STEM Education Pipeline Aligned with Industry Needs: Perspectives from the Field.” The briefing was moderated by the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) and partnered with CRA, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM).
The briefing focused on ways that colleges and universities can creatively engage students in the STEM fields and bridge the gap between education and careers in the field. The panelists discussed initiatives at the 2-year and 4-year college level, as well as graduate and doctoral levels. Additionally, there was a focus on improving diversity and inclusiveness within the field and in industry.
Nancy Amato, who is a member of the CRA Board of Directors, co-chair of CRA-W, and member of the CRA Education Committee, was a speaker at the briefing.
