The Department of Computing is keen to recruit a Senior Tutor to enhance the experience of its Undergraduate and Taught students.  The Department prides itself in its research-led education environment that values and invests in people. We conduct world-class research and transfer this research into our teaching. We are privileged to have such talented students and to educate them to become future leaders in ICT, Engineering, and industry verticals. We have over 60 academics, more than a dozen teaching fellows, 30 professional support staff, over 200 research staff, and over 1,000 taught and research students.

This Senior Tutor role will support Undergraduate and taught students in their personal, general academic and professional development, as well as their pastoral care.  This is a new role principally working with the Department’s Director of UG Studies and other Teaching Team members.  You will manage the Undergraduate personal tutoring system and monitor the academic progress and attendance of students, supporting students with more complex concerns, as well as being the primary source of support and advice for Personal Tutors. You will be responsible for the allocation of Undergraduate Teaching Assistants (UTAs) to support tutoring group sessions for first-year Undergraduates. You will also ensure that the Department aligns with student-related College policies, maintain accurate student records and serve on College committees.

To apply for this post you will need a Doctoral degree in Computing or a related discipline and a Masters level teaching qualification or PGCert level qualification in Education.  Other essential requirements include:

  • Experience with management of student wellbeing
  • Previous management of a Higher Education programme of studies
  • Experience of collaborating at a senior level with an organisation
  • Experience of teaching UG Computing modules
  • The ability to work in and lead a team effectively.
