The Department of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities is seeking candidates for multiple full time teaching positions.

We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in theory, software engineering, object-oriented programming and development, human-computer interaction, machine learning, data science, and artificial intelligence. However, candidates from all areas of computer science are encouraged to apply.

We are most interested in candidates who are passionate about teaching computer science, and have a strong record of, or potential for, achieving excellence in teaching. All candidates should have a Masters or PhD in computer science or a related field.

We will begin application review on October 1, 2024, and applications will be accepted until all positions are filled. See our Faculty Recruiting Page for detailed application information.

The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities is an R1 university located in the Minneapolis- St. Paul metropolitan area. We are proud to offer the following to potential candidates:
Large, vibrant department: The department is large, with about 70 faculty total, approximately 25% of whom are full-time instructional staff. Our student populations are large as well, with 2,400+ undergraduate students and 500+ graduate students.
Supportive environment: The department is supportive of teaching faculty, and has recently taken steps to define a robust promotion track with the possibility of sabbaticals.
Continued growth: We expect our department to grow significantly in the next three years, adding fifteen tenure-track and teaching faculty.
Teaching load, and opportunity to teach at multiple levels: The teaching load for instructional faculty is five courses per year. These are usually large, required courses, however, some instructors also teach electives in popular areas. Moreover, there are opportunities to teach in other programs such as the department’s Software Engineering MS program, or the Data Science BS program.
Newly renovated space: In Spring 2023 much of the department, including the teaching faculty, moved to space in a newly renovated building with custom offices, conference rooms, and classrooms.
Opportunity for leadership: There are multiple opportunities for teaching faculty who are interested in departmental or University service, including special education initiatives, public outreach activities, and participation in department or University governance.
Location: The Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area is a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family. Moreover, the area has a strong computer industry presence and is one of the Midwest’s major economic centers.
