Attract Funded PhD Talent: Submit Research Opportunities for NSF CSGrad4US Fellows
By Matt Hazenbush, Director of Communications
Computing research faculty are invited to take advantage of a unique opportunity to share their research and lab opportunities with NSF-funded PhD applicants who will be submitting their applications this fall for 2025 entry.
The NSF CSGrad4US Fellowship and Mentoring Program supports professionals returning to academia to pursue research-based PhDs in computer science, computer engineering, or information science. These Fellows, similar to NSF GRFP students, receive three years of NSF funding, allowing them to fully engage in high-impact research without financial burden.
This year’s cohort of 85 mentees are now beginning their required year-long mentoring program, a process that involves finding their best fit research opportunities and preparing their applications. All research and lab opportunities submitted via this submission form will be made available to NSF CSGrad4US Fellows as they weigh their options for their PhD journeys.
The few minutes it takes to complete the form will significantly help connect prospective PhD students with mentors and foster valuable collaborative research opportunities. Last year, over 100 research opportunities were submitted, many of which resulted in successful PhD applications from Fellows.
“NSF CSGrad4US Fellows bring diverse experiences and fresh perspectives to academic research, enriching lab environments,” says Susanne Hambrusch, Program Chair of NSF CSGrad4US and Professor of Computer Science at Purdue University.
“Our past cohorts of Fellows have had great success in finding an adviser who matches their research interests and gaining admission to excellent PhD programs. Posting your research and lab opportunities will be a valuable source of additional opportunities they will consider.”
If you are looking for exceptional, NSF-funded PhD applicants to join your lab, submit your research and lab opportunities via the submission form by October 31. Faculty and community members are encouraged to share this opportunity widely to support the next generation of diverse computing researchers.
