Overview

The Summer School workshop on Computer Architecture and Circuits will be held on August 16-17, 2018 at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. This workshop is primarily targeted at women and under-represented minorities who are currently enrolled in computer science or computer engineering graduate programs with an interest in computer architecture and circuit research.

This workshop will cover emerging topics in computer architecture and circuit developments to give students a broad view of state-of-the-art development at intersection of hardware and software.  We provide students with vision and assistance on cross-disciplinary research, getting started on research, networking, finding internships and career planning.

Logistics

The Workshop will run from Thursday at 9 am to Friday at 1:00 pm.

Accepted attendees will receive a scholarship to cover travel expenses.

Flights: We recommend flying to Chicago’s O’Hare airport, which is a short drive from Evanston, IL.

Ground transport:  We recommend taking a taxi or airport shuttle service from O’Hare to the Hilton Orrington.  Fares from O’Hare to Evanston are not metered, so please be sure to confirm the fare with the driver before boarding your taxi.  Taxi fare should be around $35.

Hotel: Rooms for all participants have been booked at the Hilton Orrington, Evanston, IL for the two nights.

Eligibility
This event is open to junior, senior undergraduate and entry-level graduate students who plan to pursue a doctorate degree in the general field of computer science, computer engineering and electrical engineering or related disciplines.  Priority will be given to women and underrepresented minority students.
